My project explores industrial byproducts and how waste is culturally defined. I focused on woodturning and the excess material produced in creating spherical forms. My final outcome is a stepping stool with bobbin-turned legs and reclaimed sawdust cushions, designed to help students reach higher shelves when sourcing materials. Dust is often the hidden centre of industry: swept aside, collected, and forgotten. My outcome asks what if we put that dust to use instead of throwing it away?
