Revolution In the Parlour
Sheherezade Oguz Reith
A sculpture of a chair upholstered by hand sewn wadding and repurposed tablecloths wearing a skirt and shoes. Referencing the absurdity of censorship, specifically Victorians considering chair legs indecent. The chair powerfully stands on the on button of a fan, which lifts her oppressive skirt. The work resists sexualised viewing and asserts agency and boundaries instead of display and performance.
