Children of the Scorched Earth
Fritz Lowthorpe - Ziehn
In 10 lifetimes’ time, when the Earth is ‘scorched’, my project explores biomimicry as a final resort for preserving human life, inspired by animals adapted to harsh climates. Constructed from canvas, the headpiece references armadillo shells and woodlouse joints. The asymmetrical cloak wraps protectively around the body, inspired by the shape of a milkweed pod. Layered sleeves reinterpret lizard scales and spinal bones, while a translucent veil conceals and protects the wearer.
