Why go to Margate when you can go to Mallorca for the same price? I have made 5 flags for 5 coastal towns in southeast England. Each element of these flags represents a problem faced by the local community following rapid decline post-package holiday. Each combination is different. For my film, I brought them back to their locations, local people holding them, confronting the romanticised image of the British seaside, helping bring awareness to the lived realities of the communities still there.
