Time Poor
Ellie Rushworth
My FMP investigated gift giving, and through my research I have become interested in the line between gifts, commodities, and currency, and how they exist as vessels for social connection. Hinging my ideas on reciprocal giving cycles present across generations, I’ve explored time as something that exists as both a commodity and a gift. I chose to represent time through strings of hand plaited wool in my final sculpture, as a response to my personal experience of time exchange with my mother.
